Who was he on Stereo Dan? The owner, operator or one of the DJs?

I always thought Stereo Dan was a wicked name for a sound. Why they changed it to Stereophonic (a name already used by another sound) is beyond me!

They didn't change it to Stereophonic, that was a different sound. What happened is that Tappa Dan had a sound in Manchester in the 80s called Stereodan and and when Tony Rose wanted to start a sound he want into partnership with Tappa (Castro Brown's cousin). Then Tappa split and did his own thing but called his sound Dan Stereophonic.

RIP Tony Rose, his yard by St Marys church was like a dancehall, pure Moss Side youths in there. The first man in Manchester to get serious with dub plates and raised the standard for everyone.
