Default ACCORDING TO JAMAICA STAR BOUNTY KILLER ITS A PARTY WAS A SUCCESS

CURTIS CAMPBELL, STAR Writer

Hennessy It's A Party, hosted by dancehall icon Bounty Killer, was definitely the most anticipated party last weekend, as hundreds of patrons turned out at Sugarman's Beach, Portmore, St Catherine, to show their support for the artiste at his birthday celebration.
Sometime after 11 p.m., the venue was booming with excitement, especially in the VIP area, where bottles of premium liquor were being popped by Bounty Killer and his associates.
However, the general party area didn't have much action at that point. The dance floor was huge and patrons mostly hid from the exotic lights by taking refuge under the darker areas on the beach.
Tony Chrome was in control of the wheels of steel and he played songs from a variety of dancehall artistes. One would assume that an Alliance party would be bombarded with Alliance music; however, that was not the case.
Songs from Aidonia, Vybz Kartel, Black Ryno and Beenie Man all helped to build the vibe on the beach as patrons got involved and danced the night away.
Mavado's General was a crowd favourite and had to be played at least three times, in honour of Bounty Killer, who is often referred to as 'The General' by his supporters. Music from Iyara, Pattex, Kalado and other ANG members also got some attention from Tony Chrome.
Following Tony Chrome's well-received set, Renaissance took over the juggling. They started their set by playing hip hop songs like Lauryn Hill's Ready or Not. They also drew attention to Bounty Killer's international success by playing some of his collaborations with international artistes like The Fugees, Busta Rhymes and Swizz Beats.
It's A Party was a beach event; however, the dress code was not limited to beach wear. Some male patrons wore Alliance-branded shirts and jeans pants, as well as blazer jackets, while their female counterparts were dressed in more edgy outfits like two-piece bikinis, or clothing made from thin materials, exposing their skin.
Iconic selector of Metro Media fame, Sky Juice, took over and added some variety to the juggling by playing some songs from the likes of Omi, Chronixx and Jah Cure. Later in his set he was hampered by technical difficulties; however, he bounced back to get a good reception from the audience.
"If a did some other place mi deh and the system a give trouble mi pack up mi bag and leave. But yu see because a Bounty Killer, if a one tweeter a play tonight ya, mi a play fi di people dem," Sky Juice said to roaring approval.
He exited with Ninja Man's new single Ninja Mi Ninja and was followed by Boom Boom and Harry Hype who also gave a good account of themselves.
Boom Boom played the Overproof and Overtime rhythms. However, he had patrons in a frenzy when he played a Beenie Man song which he said was dedicated to Bounty Killer, his dancehall rival.

- Anthony Minott photos
Another shocker came at minutes after 2 a.m., when Boom Boom played a voice note which he said was sent by former Gaza artiste Popcaan. In the unexpected voice note, Popcaan said Bounty Killer was one of the biggest legends in dancehall and he was wishing him a happy birthday.
Boom Boom played the voice note twice, and you could literally hear whispers coming from different corners of the venue, especially from surprised Alliance fans.
Other surprises on the night came from a Japanese dance group led by former Dancehall Queen Latesha. They performed choreography to a medley of Bounty Killer songs, and it was thoroughly entertaining to Bounty Killer, who watched from the VIP lounge.
Some artistes who turned out to show their support were Flexx, Ms Thing, Delus, Konshens, Macka Diamond, Ninja Man, Danielle DI, Beenie Man, Tanto Blacks, Big Wayne, Quick Cook, Black Queen, Lutan Fyah, among others.
Bounty Killer's birthday party dubbed It's a Party held at Sugarman's beach, Hellshire, last Saturday.
