    have a look at kubuntu

a KDE variant of ubuntu, more "windows" like, so it's a similar interface

    fedora is another nice one

    check out knoppix

that might be just what you're looking for

also check elive another decent distro
    p.s
if you're feeling adventurous, check out menuetOS

certainly different, but a unique experience

unity is nice, i've used it in VM's so far and [corey todd]mi like it[/corey todd] lol...not alot of people know about menuetOS, because it's a different kind of OS...it was made in an attempt to fit an OS, onto a 3.5" 1.44mb floppy disk. i ran across it like 6 years ago when i was doing a paper on the alternatives to windows.

a friend of mine was a dev on elive and he introduced me to it. it's pretty neat, and offers a great degree of customization.

debian, which ubuntu is based on, is another on you might wanna give a shot.

however be sure to give knoppix a try...it'll definitely come in handy.

p.s? have you heard of hiren's boot cd?....if you do..what do you think about it?...if you don't, give it a shot as well

yes you can put it on a pc if you want...really don't see the point of it still considering android is based on mobility. Linux is much better for a fast open source OS system on a pc/laptop

true. Ubuntu is probably the most user friendly one I've used...but I rather the old ubuntu over unity. The older version was way more customizable..

Linux Mint is a fast growing one, but it has the look/feel of windows...if your looking for something new I don't think this one is good

Fedora and Puppy linux both are falling behind (as well as most of the other debian os')...so its only a matter of time before they die out...right now the top 2 are Unity and Mint

...yea i was looking at fedora and i was like it booring and the info was iffy but puppy linux utility is supposed to be top notch ............i like mint better than unbuntu the last time i had them mint crashed less than ubuntu and i could not do any thing......dem linux os are soon goin adopt some "windows/mac type" behavior soon ...... i down load the unity and i will do the same for mint .....i just rescued a old pc and it has windows on it i have a spare hard drive and ...let the mad ness begin

so far i've only ran them on VM's

    however, if you feel inclined

    give this site a look

    p.s

if you've got a decent sized hard drive, why don't you just run a VM's

i've got a 500 gb HD on my laptop, and i've got 3 40 gb VM's on it and they run fine
