    Cool The Story Of Jamaican Music : (Documentary)

    Yeah dis is a liccle 3 part documentary on where reggae music originated from and how it developed thru out the years. The effects the music had on life and how it became used as a tool not only for entertainment but also fi political gain. Anyway to much big artist fi mention. If intrested grab a slice. Enjoy. Guvna

    Episode 1 : FORWARD MARCH
    As independence fever swept Jamaica, ska was born at the down ton sound systems – the first modern Jamaican style. This was the music and the dance that exuberantly celebrated the birth of a new nation of ‘Israelites’. By the time it crossed to Britain and later to
    America, it was reggae – a bone fide pop style. This was reggae’s first golden age, celebrating what it meant to be ‘young, gifted and black.’ With a music made by the people,for the people. Reggae became the voice of Jamaica’s dispossessed, a situation that would produce the island’s biggest superstar and the music’s greatest ambassador – Bob Marley.

    Episode 2 : REBEL MUSIC
    For many, Bob Marley is reggae music but in this period in which he became the icon we know and love, the pace of development around him was phenomenal. By the mid-1970s he was a rock superstar: reggae was now part of rock’s mainstream. The music survived Marley’s death to reinvent itself completely. Deejaying had been adopted by the New York soul scene where it was called ‘rapping’ and the sound system culture found in the ex-pat Jamaican communities on the US East Coast formed the basis of hip hop.

    dancehall. In America reggae had a connection with hip-hop and DJ Shabba Ranks saw his
    popularity rise and fall. Looks at how Jamaican street styles have achieved a dominance
    in Britain and the rise of New Roots in Jamiaca.
