As said before, you shouldn't pay for jingles, they're supposed to be free. But: you have to ask yourself.
There is no such thing as "jingle sessions" where an artist would work through long lists of jingle requests by soundmen who just sent in their info. But if you meet an artist and ask him to voice a thing, most won't refuse.

As I said, they're supposed to be free.

I too have witnessed ppl paying for them because the felt they need their jingle so badly that they rather pay for it than live with the fact they did not get one.
Yet I would never advise anyone to do that, because ever since I been part of dub sessions, interviews or whatever opportunities there were to voice jingles, they were usually free - so I would not endorse ppl paying for them which might eventually lead to that becoming the norm.

(Of course we're talking about quick shouts here - 1 minute, half-a-tune accapellas that could be used as the intro theme of a radio show are a different matter.)

What I have found funny about jingles (drops as they are known in the recording/radio industry) is the BIG artist have never given me problems. Ongly di likkle hurry come up artist ah try charge man fi drops. Outta all ah dem Luciano was the best where this was concerned. I have a Dat full ah drops and accapella's whe im did gi mi while he was "tuning up". Luciano IMHO is a class act, very professional.

I second that, after he finished his set at carnival last year he did a whole session just taking photos and then did jingles for ages and didn't even complain.

    Top artist and very humble

young selector advice for cutting dubs

all i can say is my links came after time spending at arrows, haggley park, jammys, scorpio at molynes road and ofcourse boby digital inna hughendon, stonelove headquarters, kings of kings now run by scatta, mixing lab and the great bulby not forgetting fatta......it took time and alot of patients, i first met buju around penthouse that was an experience in itself back in those days he was charging $4000 jamaican and i was complaining badly seh him a tief...garnett silk wasnt cheap either.

there are some guys on dhr which are great links get some good reccomendation to start with, and if a price sounds to good then it most likely a splice.

FOR REAL.. tried that ONE TIME... with Half Pint in LA. Half Pint was cool and did good works.. a female manager or or whatever her role was did try fuck up the day. we make 2 for xxx deal so I say cool. She gives me wrong directions to studio so i get lost... and then when works are done, she try say,,, "NOoo xxx was the price for one"

Irish temper pop off and argument but still, Half Pint stick to the original deal in the end (BIG UP)...

since then, when artist try make me talk to mgr, I find a plan b artist to voice. fuck that he said she said shit. Mgr can be involved but I'm negotiating with the artist direct
